Toronto transit users may get a taste of déjà vu this Groundhog Day, as this coming weekend will be among theThe transit agency plans to shut down service on a busy portion of the Line 1 Yonge-University subway in the heart of downtown for the entire weekend of Saturday, Feb ruary 1 and Sunday, Feb ruary 2, 2025.The TTC will shutter service on Line 1 from St. George to St. Andrew stations, a stretch of the route spanning 2.75 kilometres and six stations.
As with previous full-weekend closures, the TTC is using this extended service interruption as a window to carry out work on its overwhelming repair and upgrade backlog. During the closure, Museum, Queen's Park, and St. Patrick stations will remain inaccessible to the public, while other stations along the outage will remain open for customers to purchase fares and connect to surface transit.
