SaltWire's Atlantic regional weather forecast for October 24, 2023 | SaltWire - Futures for Canada's main stock index rose on Tuesday as U.S. Treasury yields retreated, while investors awaited key monetary policy decisions from the Bank of Canada later in the week.
The yield on the 10-year Treasuries fell to 4.013% after rising above the 5% mark in the previous session.Strength on the commodities front also helped the Toronto market as base metal prices rose on hopes of more stimulus from top consumer China, while oil prices gained as investor anxiety over the Israel-Hamas war escalating into a wider conflict lingered on. Analysts expect BoC will keep interest rates unchanged at 5.
Canada's annual inflation rate unexpectedly slowed to 3.8% in September, and underlying core measures also eased, data showed last week.
