“I think you would have nuclear holocaust, if I didn’t deal with North Korea. I think you would have a nuclear war, if I weren’t elected.'
While running his father’s family real estate empire, former President Donald Trump regularly bloated its net worth by a staggering $2 billion, New York Attorney General Letitia James charged in asking a Manhattan judge to rule against the Trumps before theirJames asked State Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron to resolve one of the fraud claims facing the Trumps encompassing a chunk of the case slated for trial Oct. 2 by recognizing a “mountain of undisputed evidence” of rampant fraud.
The AG alleges the fraud overstated the worth of Trump’s assets by up to 39% through the recording of wildly inflated values for Trump-owned skyscrapers, golf courses and residential properties, including his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla. James’ office depicted a pattern of fraud for a decade ending in 2021. In 2014, alone, Trump claimed $5.7 billion in assets, but the attorney general said her office has undisputed evidence that they were only worth $3.5 billion.
In filings Wednesday, Trump also asked Engoron for summary judgment dismissing the case — claiming, among other arguments, the AG’s claims are all time barred and that she lacks the authority to bring them.
