WASHINGTON – The Trump administration said late Tuesday it was able to secure additional coronavirus test kits without wielding its powers under the, despite announcing earlier that it planned to use the law for the first time to obtain the materials.
"There's some test kits we need to get our hands on," he said, adding that the administration would also insert"DPA language" into mass contracts for 500 million masks. Kelly Magsamen, an expert on national security, said it appeared the administration had been planning to use"a very technical, narrow piece” of the law.
The president weighed in on using the law Tuesday morning, tweeting that the DPA was"in full force, but haven't had to use it because no one has said NO! Millions of masks coming back up to States."
