OTTAWA—With his dissenting Liberal MPs now under control, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appears to be in good form for the next federal election . However, giving a GST break for holiday shopping and a $250 bonus may not cut it. To make a viable case for re-election, Trudeau needs to prove that he grasps the psychology of why many voters feel let down by his government and present a comprehensive package of reforms.
Does supporting them mean endorsing the plans of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is now the subject of arrest warrants issued for crimes against humanity? Does it mean backing those who were calling for restraint and a peaceful settlement of the Israel-Palestine crisis? Muslim public servants are of course upset. They want a similar email for the dead Palestinians. That would not be advisable.
