The results of the Mass Casualty Commission's inquiry into the massacre will be released Thursday. - Tim Krochak / ReutersIt’s been a long wait for police, families and the public.

Attending the release of the final report will be Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Public Safety Minister Marco Mendiciono and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister Sean Fraser, who also represents the Nova Scotia riding of Central Nova. Ed Ratushny, an expert on public inquiries and professor emeritus at the University of Ottawa’s law school, said he’s eagerly awaiting the report. He said it’s important that it be clear and something the average Nova Scotian and Canadian can understand. It should also contain recommendations that can be acted on, he said.

Consequently some key witnesses, particularly police officers, were not cross-examined or required to testify in person.
