“Public opinion research is an essential tool which provides the government with valuable insights on a wide range of subjects that contribute to evidence-based decision making,” reads the report. “After eight years of this out of touch Liberal government, you don’t need a $20 million poll or focus group to know that housing costs have doubled, millions are using food banks every month, inflationary spending and Liberal taxes are making life more unaffordable, and a wave of violent crime and addiction has swept across our nation,” said the party’s ethics critic MP Michael Barrett.
In addition, the government does surveys to gauge the effectiveness of its advertising, including recruitment campaigns for the military and campaigns for national parks.
