Trio nabbed over threats

March 12 (Reuters) - Elon Musk's ⁠social media company X has agreed to change ⁠its verification mechanism in the European Union following ‌a fine of 120 million euros, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday, citing a European Commission spokesperson.

KUALA LUMPUR: Three men, believed to be loan sharks , were detained for allegedly making threats against a victim. Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Hoo Chang Hook said police received a report from a 35-year-old non-governmental organisation member on March 12.

"The complainant lodged the report on behalf of a friend who was believed to have received threats from an unlicensed moneylending agent. “Initial police investigations found that the report is related to an earlier investigation paper, which is being investigated under Section 5 of the Moneylenders Act 1951,” he said in a statement on Friday .“The case is still under investigation as police are tracking down other suspects believed to be involved,” he added. He said the investigation paper would be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further instructions on possible charges. ACP Hoo stressed that the Brickfields police would take firm action against anyone involved in commercial crimes. "We urge those with information on the case or other criminal activities in their areas to contact the Brickfields police hotline at 03-2297 9222, the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-2115 9999, or the nearest police station," he added.
