Ontario Health’s Trillium Gift of Life Network , which delivers and coordinates tissue donation in the province, is giving Lakeridge two key awards.
The network is getting the ‘Provincial Eligible Approach Rate’ Award for having meaningful discussions with patients and families approaching the end of life, who may be able to sign up as organ donors. “Lakeridge Health achieved an impressive 93 per cent approach rate, exceeding the 90 per cent target set by TGLN,” noted officials.
As well, because the network has either met or surpassed the 90 per cent target for a four-year period, it is receiving the ‘Award of Excellence.’ According to Lakeridge Health, its teams supported 13 organ donors in 2023/2024, which led to 42 life-saving treatments helping 38 people have a second chance at life.“We are deeply inspired by the courage and generosity of the families who make the decision to donate,” said Lakeridge Health President and CEO Cynthia Davis in a release. “In moments of profound loss, their choice to give the gift of life leaves an enduring legacy and brings new hope to those awaiting a transplant.
