Paul Joseph Nicotine was arrested a few weeks after a group of four carried out a home invasion in the city’s Pleasant Hill neighbourhood.

Nicotine, who is currently in custody in the Regina Correctional Centre, appeared via telephone on Tuesday in Court of King’s Bench, making the request to Justice Richard Danyliuk. According to Saskatoon police, a 14-year-old boy who took part in the home invasion sustained fatal injuries. Nicotine, 26 at the time, and two other male teenagers were arrested in connection with the deathArticle content Last November, Elijah Pfeiffer, 19, pleaded guilty to robbery and breaking and entering in connection with the incident. He had also been charged with manslaughter, but the charge was dropped. He was sentenced to five and a half years in prison.

At Pfeiffer’s trial, evidence emerged that the home on Avenue R South belonged to a drug dealer, and that an occupant of the home stabbed the 14-year-old boy in the back in self-defence during an altercation. Court heard that Pfeiffer orchestrated the home invasion out of revenge and hoped to find a large amount of money in the home. Two of those involved in breaking and entering were armed — one with a machete, the other a gun.Saskatoon police taped off the area around 437 Avenue R South following a fatal altercation on Dec. 7, 2020. A 14-year-old boy was rushed from the home by ambulance but died in hospital. The news seems to be flying at us faster all the time.
