The Tree of Hope, located at the Thunder Bay Police Station, is wrapped in red lights and will remain lit until the end of January. Each light represents the name of a missing or murdered Indigenous woman or girl in the country. Const. Sharlene Bourdeau started this project five years ago with four trees, and now more than 20 police services and detachments have MMIWG Trees of Hope. Bourdeau hopes to bring the cause to Ottawa and light a tree inside Parliament.
