Brittany Tran and Rylan Kleiter emerged victorious in Pool A at the Canadian mixed doubles curling trials, securing their spot in the playoffs.

Brittany Tran and Rylan Kleiter secured the top spot in Pool A at the Canadian mixed doubles curling trials with an 8-6 victory against Paige Papley and Evan Van Amsterdam in the final preliminary round draw. Tran and Kleiter, boasting a 6-1 record, gained a commanding 7-3 lead after stealing three points in the fourth end and ultimately clinched the win. Rachel Homan and Brendan Bottcher also ended with a 6-1 record after a 6-4 win over Jennifer Jones and Brent Laing.

However, their loss to Tran and Kleiter on Wednesday relegated them to second place. Jones and Laing, despite the loss, finished third in the pool and qualified for the playoffs with a 4-3 record. This was secured after Laura Walker and Kirk Muyres suffered a 7-5 defeat against Nancy Martin and Steve Laycock. Walker and Muyres also ended with a 4-3 record, but Jones and Laing held the tiebreaker. Meanwhile, Jessica Zheng and Victor Pietrangelo (3-4) secured a 7-4 win over Robert Desjardins and Anne-Sophie Gionest (1-6). Earlier in the day, Lisa Weagle and John Epping clinched second place in Pool B. The father-daughter pairing of Jim and Jaelyn Cotter also advanced to the playoffs following a win in Thursday's early draw. Weagle and Epping concluded the preliminary round with a 5-2 record after a 9-5 victory over Tyrel Griffith and Jennifer Armstrong. They secured the win after a three-point fifth end and back-to-back steals. The Cotters (4-3) secured the third spot in the group with an 8-7 win against Riley Sandham and Brendan Craig. This tied them with defending champions Kadriana and Colton Lott, but the Cotter team held the tiebreaker after defeating them earlier in the tournament. The Lotts missed their chance to advance after losing 9-6 to Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant, who finished the pool play undefeated with a 7-0 record. In another early result, Taylor Reese-Hansen and Corey Chester (2-5) secured an 8-4 win over Melissa Adams and Alex Robichaud (2-5)
