Traffic to and from Galveston is particularly bad today. Here's why.
Motorists heading to Galveston were running into significant traffic Saturday near the causeway.
Multiple lanes in both directions were closed due to construction on I-45 near the causeway, according to TxDOT. For beachgoers heading to the island, the roadwork was creating backups all the way to La Marque.Traffic along Texas 6, Texas 146 and Old Galveston Road approaching I-45 was also slow going. Traffic leaving the island was backed up as well.
