Trudeau says that tariffs will be paused for at least the next 30 days following what he described as a "good call with President Trump" on Monday afternoon on the eve of a 25 per cent tariff being imposed on Canadian goods.

The pause affects both the U.S.' tariffs on incoming Canadian imports and Canada's planned retaliatorily measures to hit back at the American economy. "I just had a good call with President Trump. Canada is implementing our $1.3 billion border plan — reinforcing the border with new choppers, technology and personnel, enhanced coordination with our American partners, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl. Nearly 10,000 frontline personnel are and will be working on protecting the border.
