Arvada police officer Gordon Beesley responded to a call about a suspicious incident in the shopping and dining district and was fatally shot by a gunman. The gunman was also killed, as was Johnny Hurley, described as a “Samaritan” by police.A man walked into a birthday party in Colorado Springs and opened fire, killing six people — all members of the same extended family — before ending his own life.
