The 6A girls 3200-meter race that was at its midpoint was suspened.AUSTIN – An endeavor that began in a few years ago finally led to gold Saturday when East Central senior Michael Pinones won the Class 6A boys shot put at the UIL state track and field championships at Myers Stadium.
Pinones trailed David Wilson III of Hurst L.D. Bell going into the final round. Pinones, the competition’s final thrower, walked away from the group of competitors before his last attempt.“You know you can do this. You’ve done this thousands and thousands of times,” Pinones said Rodriguez told him. “It didn’t feel the best, but I knew it was something good and I knew it was good enough,” Pinones said. “Looking back on the competition, I could have done better, but to ber able to finally get a good one, I was able to bring for the city and bring it home for the team.”
