Toyota Gazoo Racing unveils a pair of immaculate AE86 Corollas fitted with hydrogen and electric power sources.
has made it very clear that one of their main goals as an automaker is to offer more carbon neutral options to their customer base. It's not a process that happens overnight, and in their mission to deliver on a cleaner vehicle line up, the Japanese automaker has ventured into converting an older, legendary chassis to help bring attention to its technological efforts.
Pop the carbon fiber hood and that greasy 4-banger you know and love is but a distant memory, but you'll notice that this conversion is remarkably well done. Everything takes on an original factory look and feel inside the refinished engine bay, and nothing appears tacked on or out of place, while Cusco suspension peeks through the shock towers.
These concept vehicles will certainly hurt some feelings as the AE86 used market has become increasingly scarce and pricing is absolutely painful, but if you're going to combine clean vehicle concepts with a classic chassis, these absolutely pristine examples are the right way to do it.
