An August 1965 advertisement in the San Antonio Express shows one of Ford’s early designs. The ad asked readers to select a name for what was then called “Hemisfair Tower.”The winner was selected based on the postmark date of each entry received at the fair office. The"Tower of the Americas" entry that had the earliest postmark came from Rosa M. Gonzalez of Corpus Christi.
