Toronto Police Insp. Joyce Schertzer has filed an appeal against a tribunal ruling that demoted her for interfering in a collision investigation involving her nephew. Schertzer's appeal lists over 60 grounds, including allegations that the hearing officer engaged in speculation, ignored evidence, and made unreasonable findings. The tribunal previously found Schertzer guilty of two counts of professional misconduct for her actions related to the crash. Schertzer's lawyer argues that the hearing officer's analysis contained errors, failed to consider relevant testimony, and overstated the impact of her actions on the police service's reputation.
