TORONTO - A comprehensive search is underway for a suspect in the fatal shooting of Toronto police officer Constable Marc Pinizzotto , as tributes pour in for the 43-year-old officer.
He died after being shot at a fourth-floor apartment building on Thursday while officers were carrying out an investigation into multiple shootings, including an incident at the U.S. Consulate in March. Police have charged 19-year-old Nicholas Bennett with first-degree murder, while a second suspect, 19-year-old Zara Jabbi, remains at large.
The community has rallied in grief, with hundreds of officers standing shoulder to shoulder in a solemn procession on Thursday, some wiping tears from their eyes, as Pinizzotto's body was transported from Sunnybrook Hospital to the chief coroner's office.
