Toronto FC is taking an 'ambitious' approach to road games, starting with Philly on Wednesday

Since TFC management replaced head coach Chris Armas with Perez, the Reds have gone on a five-game unbeaten streak . The Reds are coming off a 1-1 draw in their previous game against Nashville SC last Sunday, a match that saw centre back Omar Gonzalez score his first goal since Sept. 2019. The goal was Gonzalez’s 16th in MLS and the 14th he has scored with his head. TFC was the better side overall against Nashville, but being better without securing three points doesn’t cut it at this point.
“I expect a very difficult game, very tight. They play a 4-4-2 diamond and they have very good players up front and they take their chances,” said Perez, identifying forward Sergio Santos and midfielder Alejandro Bedoya as major attacking threats for Philly. The Reds will be hampered by the probable absence of star attacking midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo, who did not play in the Nashville match last Sunday because he was experiencing some discomfort in his leg.
