When Sarah Robinson founded Toronto_cares to help others who were struggling to afford food, she was driven both by compassion for others, but also her own lived experience. — via healthing_ca foodsecurity healthing

“The work that Sarah and her dedicated team of volunteers do to provide much-needed resources to people across the city who may be struggling is truly invaluable,” says Stiles. “While Toronto Cares started out as a pandemic response to help people dealing with job and income losses, health challenges and housing precarity and homelessness, the need in our communities has far from diminished.”“They could learn a lot from the work Sarah and Toronto Cares are doing,” she says.

One of those neighbours is Jamie Gagnon, who had a baby at the beginning of the pandemic. As a low-income single mom, she struggled to provide food and any extras for her daughter. She learned of Robinson’s organization and reached out to her.
