Environment Canada confirmed a tornado touched down near Mirabel airport, but there were no reports of injuries or damage.

“The forest fires in the James Bay region have triggered the grid protection mechanisms. For this reason, we currently have three high-voltage transmission lines unavailable, but our facilities have not been damaged. This situation is causing the vast majority of outages in the Laval, Montreal and Montérégie regions,” Hydro-Québec said on its website.Article content
La Ronde was temporarily affected by the outages, but electricity was restored to the park around 3:15 p.m., it said on its Facebook page, adding that rides would start moving again soon. “It won’t be happening yearly or more intense year to year, but those are kind of an indication of what the future normal will look like,” he said. “Maybe not next year or in five years, but in a few decades from now, it’s going to be warmer, it’s going to be more intense. That’s what climate change is forecasted to look like: more intense weather events, longer weather events. … Not more unpredictable, but switching more rapidly between those kind of events.
