South Central Texas may see more hail, tornadoes and fire danger this spring, NWS says

The weather pattern known as La Niña, which has produced prolonged warm and dry weather in San Antonio for the last three years, issued, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Center’s Climate Prediction Center. Last March, over the span of several hours, five tornadoes – accompanied by reports of large hail – were tracked across portions of South Central Texas.

In the short term, the chances of flooding are fairly low. With May already being the region’s wettest month climatologically, the month could see an increase in chances for flooding and flash flooding, White said.
