Police investigating after light fixture falls on Canada Day crowd in Coquitlam
The incident occurred on July 1 at 9 p.m. during a live performance at Town Centre Park, said Coquitlam RCMP, which is investigating whether the toppled equipment was caused by an accident or a deliberate act.The tripod-type light fixture was at the top of the bleachers and facing the stage, said spokeswoman Cpl. Alexa Hodgins. When it fell, it crashed onto spectators from behind.
The light fixture struck a few people. One woman was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
