An influx of interest in Creative Sask's film and television grant program has prompted another $7.5 million investment from the province.

“It is a huge win for us, to see that kind of volume of production wanting to come to our province and the applications kept coming, so we’re thrilled we can respond to them,” said Dean.Article content Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Laura Ross speaks during a major announcement of funding for Creative Saskatchewan’s Feature Film and Television Production Grant Program at the John Hopkins Regina Soundstage on Thursday, October 20, 2022 in Regina.Creative Saskatchewan anticipates that approximately 140 new jobs will be created this year and the spin-off economic impact will total as much as $32 million.
“New film and television production will help grow our labour force, increase tourism and support really important sectors like arts, culture and the hospitality industry,” Ross said.Chris Triffo, a producer with Wavelength Entertainment who is working on a handful of Saskatchewan-linked projects, agreed.
“There’s never been a time, in my career, where there’s been such hunger for content,” he said. “This is a really good time to be in the content creation business that is being primarily led by streamers.”Article content
