The life experience comes into play with how the two connect as partners on an emotional level – an essential element to skating in pairs. Meanwhile, Deschamps was 28 and unsure of his figure skating future after running through eight different partners. “They don’t have the same mindset as teenagers,” Picard said. “That alone makes them special and that’s their strength – they treat it like a job and they’re ready to do anything to reach their goals.
