Top 5 GTA-made fashion finds StarTogether
It all started with Smythe designers Christie Smythe, above left, and Andrea Lenczner’s desire
to create the perfect blazer. “We wanted to embolden the women who wear them through advanced styling, meticulous tailoring and impeccable construction,” Smythe says. After 15 years, the uptown-based designers have moved beyond their signature blazers to a full — and often-acclaimed — ready-to-wear collection of pretty, preppy pieces. But their quest to empower women through strong style remains.
“Personal style is the most effective way to wordlessly express yourself,” Lenczner says. “Whether it’s hair and makeup, body art, or clothing and accessories, these deliberate choices reflect our self-image and message to the world about how we want to be perceived.” Now, the pair is expanding their fashion empire with their first shop, in their beloved Summerhill. “Just like our manufacturing, our first store was always going to be close to home,” Lenczner says. “We like to keep a close eye. It’s a place where we can meet with and hear their feedback directly, and try new ideas, new products and new partnerships.”
Looking for something to spruce up your own spring look? Smythe and Lenczner share their top picks for GTA-made fashion finds.“First, we love a huge sack. This one is great because it’s neutral without being boring. The black-and-white graphic print will go with everything, and the hit of neon makes it spring-forward and unique.” —“Now that toques are off, add hits of gold and silver jewelry to glint in the sun –“The perfect vermillion lip can be found in this pencil.
