Waste not, want not: App finds you food deals in Sudbury
Want a deal on good local food, while minimizing food waste at the same time? Now, there’s an app for that.
"It's anything that didn't get sold during the regular course of business,” Soteroff said. “It can be something like, say you made 50 croissants, and you only sell 48 of them, and those two croissants can go on the app. Sometimes we'll see delivery apps have canceled orders. So those things can go on the apps. Grocery items, so produce, potatoes, apples, anything from the grocery store.
With respect to best-before dates, Soteroff said while many people consider this the point where a food product becomes unsafe to consume, the best-before date really only refers to a product’s freshness.
