Drag brunches were hugely popular 30 years ago, especially with women seeking cosmos and cosmopolitanism. Armed protesters have shown up outside numerous venues across the state, and the implied threats are unmistakable. But the anti-trans, anti-drag mania has implications beyond harming ticket sales and performers' incomes.
