She thrived in the attacking midfielder position, where she has evolved as a playmaker.Just 18, Shaw this year lacked the international experience to challenge for a spot on the U.S. senior national team. Barcenas, who won’t turn 16 until next month, was playing in just her sixth regular-season match since becoming the youngest player to join the National Women’s Soccer League.
