A celebration of Black History Month featuring a keynote speaker, performances and awards for community champions. The event will take place on February 5th at the Audley Recreation Centre in Ajax from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

“Together We Rise Durham: Resistance, Resilience, Possibility” happens on February 5, in-person, at the Audley Recreation Centre in Ajax.

The celebration will feature a keynote speaker, Dr. Andrew B. Campbell , performances and a celebration of champions, including awards for community champions. The event is hosted by The Regional Municipality of Durham, in partnership with Durham Regional Police Service, Canadian Jamaican Club of Oshawa, City of Pickering, DurhamOne, Lakeridge Health, Municipality of Clarington, Ontario Shores, Pickering Anti-Black Racism Taskforce, Town of Ajax, City of Oshawa, Town of Whitby, Township of Brock and Township of Uxbridge.

It takes place from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Community Room of the Audley Recreation Centre at 1955 Audley Road. “During Black History Month we acknowledge the challenges Black people have overcome, applaud the contributions Black people have made and celebrate the work being done by the Black community across the country and Durham,” noted organizers.
