Ontario Education Minister Todd Smith has announced that he is resigning “effective immediately.”
Published Friday, August 16, 2024 11:01AM EDTJill Dunlop has been named the province’s new education minister, replacing Todd Smith, who resigned Friday morning.
In a statement posted to social media on Friday morning, Smith, the MPP for Bay of Quinte, said that he has made the “very difficult” decision to leave politics to accept a position in the private sector. He was active in that role as recently as yesterday when he announced a new funding formula for childcare operators that would cap the daily fee that parents pay at $22 as of January.
