Friday, Oct. 13: We must properly support 15-minute neighbourhoods if they are to work properly, says a reader.

Ottawa is proud to be promoting the 15-minute community concept. But the one planned between the new Hard Rock Casino and Bowesville Road will serve to trap commuters from that area, as well as existing commuters from Riverside Drive South and those even farther south.Why? There simply is no way to get downtown quickly now and existing roads will never be able to handle the new traffic.

The city is presently paving a traditional intersection that will feed the new LRT station. This could have been a traffic circle but no, the transportation approval was for an outdated-style intersection.Everyone who attended me was thorough and kind, from the paramedics to the doctor and those at the nursing station. Little things made such a difference, such as the worker who, despite being very busy, quickly put a chair in my cubicle for my daughter who had accompanied me.
