The narrow-minded argument that our freedom is in jeopardy because of COVID mandates is untrue and the unconstitutional methods used to argue the point show disrespect for the law, the Constitution, the Charter of Rights and Freedom, our freedom to protest and democracy in general. Their refusal to recognize the fact that choices come with consequences and responsibilities will continue to be a problem because COVID is not gone. Mandates may need to be used again. Politicians at all levels will need to work together to manage this better than in the past. Hold the convoyers accountable for breaking the law to show them their behaviour is not going to be tolerated. Show politicians that supporting these convoyers will not be tolerated by not electing them.
Moreover, two of our neighbours arrived on our doorstep with a gift bag for our guest, containing a blanket, a toy and a $200 gift card for a local store. Yet another showed up with an armload of towels, face cloths and so on, and another with perogies. And another lady on our crescent has taken in two Ukrainian women — a mother and her teenaged daughter — and her resourcefulness and computer skills have been a godsend.
