Authorities have yet to formally identify those on board, though some names have been confirmed, including OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, who, according to the company, was serving as a member of the crew. Other passengers confirmed are: British billionaire Hamish Hardin, British businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood, and legendary Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeole.
“They rendezvoused with the Polar Prince and then commenced an ROV dive at the last known position of the Titan and the approximate position of the Titanic wreck. That operation is currently ongoing,” said Frederick. Fredericks said that aircraft from the U.S. Coast Guard and those deployed by Joint Rescue Coordination Centre were searching the surface visually and below the surface through the use of sonar buoys.
