Titan sub implosion: New details revealed into final moments before implosion
A partner of one of the five individuals aboard the vessel said the group likely listened to music in darkness while gazing at bioluminescent creatures at depths as deep as 12,000 feet below the ocean's surface.The Titan reportedly imploded on June 18, shortly after beginning its voyage to the Titanic around 8:00 a.m. in the deep Atlantic Ocean, as the submersible lost contact with the surface ship helping track its location.
The U.S. Navy would later confirm it heard the sound of an implosion around 9:45 a.m., with the discovery of debris from the doomed vessel coming 5 days later — just 1,600 feet from the stern of the Titanic. The wife of 48-year-old Dawood Shahzada, Christine Dawood, who was also the mother of their son, Suleman Shahzada,19, told the Daily Mail the group would have been using a Bluetooth speaker to listen to music already saved to their phones prior to boarding the sub.Those also on board the vessel included the CEO of the company behind the expedition, Stockton Rush, 61, French Titanic expert P.H. Nargeolet, 77, and 58-year-old British billionaire adventurer Hamish Harding.
