The UK is being hit with a Spanish heatwave this week bringing with it the warmest weather we have seen in a while. The Met Office says that in some parts of the country, temperatures are likely to reach 30C or even 33C.
With soaring temperatures set to make it the hottest day the UK has had so far this year, people may want to know ways that they can keep their homes cool to give them a place to shelter from the heatwave. Appliances such as hobs, ovens, and kettles produce a lot of heat therefore cook outdoors on a BBQ, if you have one, can lessen excess heat indoors.Plants keep themselves cool via transpiration, releasing water vapour when the surrounding atmosphere heats up which helps to cool themselves and the air around them.
If windows in certain rooms catch a lot of direct sunlight, use dark or blackout curtains or blinds to prevent the rays from overheating your room.
