It’s been quite the eventful year for Roquan Smith and the Chicago Bears. Now he’s headed to the Baltimore Ravens.
“Unfortunately, the new front office regime doesn’t value me here,” Smith wrote in the statement. “They’ve refused to negotiate in good faith, every step of this journey has been ‘take it or leave it.’ … They have left me no choice than to request a trade that allows me to play for an organization that truly values what I bring to the table.”
“I haven’t had the chance to talk to the McCaskey family, and maybe they can salvage this,” Smith wrote. “But as of right now I don’t see a path back to the organization I truly love.” “My focus is on making this year the best year I can and then go from there,” Smith said in September. “I don’t want to look forward too much to the future or anything like that. I’m just focused on having the best year I can with my teammates and going out and playing the game I love. That’s what means the most to me.”
