Atlanta Braves’ Chris Sale and Detroit Tigers’ Tarik Skubal have been named as the NL and AL Cy Young Award winners. Both pitchers earn the honour for the first time in their careers, after winning the pitching triple crown in each of their leagues.
Atlanta Braves starter Chris Sale and Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal have been named as the 2024 NL and AL Cy Young Award winners.
Since ending a strong run of success with the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox from 2012-18 in which he finished top-6 in Cy Young award voting seven straight years, injuries have ravaged the lanky 6-foot-6 southpaw. His pitching triple crown was the first in the NL since Clayton Kershaw achieved the feat in 2011 for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Skubal, the sixth Tiger to win the award, was named as the American League’s top pitcher on his 28th birthday.
