Hamilton Tiger-Cats cornerback Delvin Breaux had surgery on his right thumb Thursday.
A club official said Breaux’s operation was minor and he should have issues making a full recovery. Breaux was supposed to undergo surgery earlier but all procedures were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The six-foot-one, 210-pound Breaux displayed a bandaged right hand on his Instagram account Thursday. Breaux, 30, certainly has the luxury of time to recover. On Wednesday, CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie said the earliest the 2020 season could start was September due to the COVID-19 pandemic.Breaux was an East Division all-star last season as Hamilton finished with a CFL-best 15-3 record. The Ticats advanced to the Grey Cup game but lost 33-12 to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Beaux appeared in 10 games last season, registering 26 tackles, one sack, one interception and a forced fumble. Breaux has appeared in 49 regular-season games over four seasons with Hamilton, recording 110 tackles, one sack, two interceptions and six forced fumbles. He also spent three seasons with the NFL’s New Orleans Saints .
