The Boys and Girls Club of Thunder Bay hosted its 12th Annual Family Fest, offering a day of free fun and activities for families in the community.

Thunder Bay — The sounds of hammers, revving side-by-sides and laughter filled the Boys and Girls Club of Thunder Bay (BGC) on Monday as it kicked off its 12th Annual Family Fest. The free, family-friendly event ran from noon until 4 p.m. and offered a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including a photo booth and a special surprise visitor: The Mandalorian. Jess Martyn, the Windsor program coordinator at the BGC, said they typically get between 300 and 400 people every year.

She highlighted the numerous activities, such as side-by-side rides from Half-Way Motors, bouncy castles, Rockwall climbing, ‘Let’s Talk Science’ from LU, Home Depot building kits, barbecue hot dogs, and hot chocolate from Tim Hortons. Martyn emphasized the BGC’s goal of making the community aware of their work and giving back through a free event for everyone to enjoy after Christmas. Daniel Trevisanutto, a partner at Half-Way Motors, attended as a sponsor. He praised the event as a great opportunity to reach out to families and provide fun for the kids. He noted the smiles from both their employees and the attendees
