Hobbs' passing highlighted the often overlooked symptom of a sore neck in women experiencing cardiac issues, prompting Alan Forbes, owner of Bay Village Coffee, to initiate the fundraiser to raise awareness and support cardiac care. The first year was a resounding success, raising $18,000, far exceeding Forbes' initial expectations. In 2024, they sold nearly 5,000 cookies, a testament to the community's enthusiasm and support. As of Monday morning, pre-orders had already reached 1,200 cookies, demonstrating strong early momentum for this year's campaign.The cookies themselves are a labor of love, consisting of a butter cream filling sandwiched between two heart-shaped sugar cookies, glazed with sprinkles, and accompanied by a mini heart cookie cutter.
