Tree drop-off sites open Boxing Day.

Residents can drop off their fresh-cut Christmas trees at several locations city-wide for the program.

Once dropped off, the city will collect these trees to be chipped and brought to the compost site at the landfill. When the compost matures in the spring, it will be freely provided to residents to help enrich their flower gardens and lawns.“An important benefit of a natural Christmas tree is that it’s easy to recycle,” said Jason Sherband, the manager of Solid Waste and Recycling Services. The City has split these nine sites between the north and south sides.

Residents are encouraged not to leave their trees at recycling depots or out for curbside collection.
