And if that wasn't enough to get home fans excited, hometown pitcher Jack Pineau started in front of his friends and family and led the team to a 6-3 victory.
"We really, really enjoyed our relationship with J.M. Kelly," Border Cats Vice-President Bryan Graham said. "We had a really solid first half , almost won the first-half title and clinched a playoff spot, but came up a couple of games short." "I think a lot of hit-and-run, and running the bases, is really important this league to try to manufacture runs," Graham said. "You can't rely on home runs like they do in the big leagues a lot of times."
Meanwhile, work to get Port Arthur Stadium ready for the upcoming Northwoods League season is well underway.
