Three people are dead after Ottawa police, paramedics and firefighters responded to suspected overdoses Friday night.
“There is no known link between these separate deaths,” the Ottawa Police Service said Saturday, adding that investigations were underway.
On Saturday afternoon, police responded to another overdose but the victim was revived with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and naloxone — a medication that can temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose — and taken to hospital.StopOverdoseOttawa.caLast month, the Ottawa Overdose Prevention and Response Task Force warned of an increase in suspected overdose-related deaths in the capital after police and paramedics responded to at least 22 calls for suspected overdoses within a week.
The task force warned people who use drugs to never use alone, or at the same time as a companion, and not to mix drugs. “Go slow,” because the “anything can be cut with fentanyl or carfentanil.
