They can be reached by a short loop trail off a small parking area — but because of the fire, the grove will be off limits to the public at least until the end of this year. As of Sept. 15, the perimeter of the fire was about 2 miles to the west.. The graveyard of the abandoned 19th-century gold mining town has just a few remaining gravestones. The most notable is that of Ethan Allen Grosh, who with his brother mined in California and Nevada in the 1850s.
