BREAKING: The SIU has charged three OPP officers in connection with the death of a one-year-old boy in Lindsay, Ont. shooting.
The incident happened on Nov. 26, 2020, near Lindsay, Ont. A confrontation between a 33-year-old man, who had allegedly abducted his son, and the OPP resulted in three officers firing shots, leaving the man and his young child dead.
The Special Investigations Unit announced on Wednesday that it has charged OPP Constables Nathan Vanderheyden, Kenneth Pengelly and Grason Cappus with one count of manslaughter each.“The matter is now properly before the courts. In consideration of the fair trial interests of the accused, the SIU will make no further comment pertaining to this investigation,” the agency said in a Wednesday release.
