A three-day celebration will see the Stanley Cup return to B.C.'s capital 100 years after it was clinched by the Victoria Cougars hockey team.
The 1924-25 Victoria Cougars Stanley Cup-winning hockey team is shown in this photo from the BC Sports Hall of Fame.
The centennial anniversary of that win, which organizers are calling the Century Celebration, will be honoured next March 27 and March 29-30 with events planned around the Capital Region, including a songwriting contest, various hockey-related activities and an appearance by Lord Stanley’s Cup itself.
Top prize in the contest will take home a cool $5,000, while the second and third place winners will pocket $500 each. The submission deadline for the contest is Feb. 28, 2025 and the top three songwriters will play their original tunes at the Bard and Banker on March 27, starting at 7:30 p.m.
