Two people face murder and firearms charges in connection with the shooting death of 64\u002Dyear\u002Dold Gerald Desjardins on York Street early Tuesday, police say.

Shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday, members of the Ottawa Police Service’s forensic identification section were seen entering a York Street building blocked off by police tape. A sizeable contingent of tactical police and paramedics had also been present at a nearby building, on Cumberland Street at Clarence Street, but dispersed while this newspaper was at the scene.
Police said Tuesday afternoon that three people had been arrested following “a detailed ground search.” Anyone with information was asked to contact the homicide unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or at crimestoppers.ca.
